You may not realise it, but you hear the work of a voice over artist numerous times a day: On your voicemail, on the trains telling you which stops are next, on the video games you play, on the radio in-between songs, on the audiobook you’re listening to, on the online course you’re taking. The list goes on!

Voice over artists are paid to catch your attention and educate, entertain or advertise across various genres of media.

You may think it’s easy to make money, but being a successful voice over artist isn’t just about speaking into a microphone. You have to have good diction & breath-work; be naturally versatile and have a dynamic and expressive voice; you have to be conscientious and punctual; and last but not least, you need to have bags of confidence!

If you’re thinking, yep this is me, I could do this! Then voice overs could be the perfect job for you.

What is a voice over artist?

Do make sure you send all the information you have regarding your most recent eye test. If you don’t understand the information you have been given. You can simply send it to us and we will take the information we need. Send the information to sales@uksportseyeqwear.co.uk If you have had your eye test in a foreign country, that is no problem either. We are experienced at reading all international eye test formats.

Don’t send to us an eye test if you haven’t already had glasses made to the new prescription and are happy with the vision.

Don’t confuse the eye test for contact lenses with glasses. We can use a modest prescription for contact lenses, but as the powers increase the results are quite different.
What do I need to become a voice over artist?

You can send us your prescription by email, by WhatsApp or we can guide you through the information we need over the phone. The simplest way to send your details is by attaching them to your website order.

Once you have found the product you require, on the product page you have a button to “Add Prescription”. You have 2 different ways to provide us with your eye test results.

Option 1. select “Upload your prescription” By selecting this option you can either upload your prescription from a file on your computer. If you are using a mobile or tablet, you can simply take a picture of your prescription and it will be attached to the order.

Option 2. Enter additional information, this is a simple text box that allows you to type in your prescription powers. If your opticians have emailed you the details you can also cut and paste in the details here along with anything else you would like to make us aware of.
What are the different genres?

P.D.= PUPIL DISTANCE

This is a value that isn’t on many British eye test results. What is it? In simple terms, it is how far your eyes are apart from each other. Is it an important measurement, YES!

We require your pupil distance (PD) to ensure you will get the best optical vision from your eyewear. We use the measurement to ensure that the prescription lens optical centre is directly in line with each of your pupils. Most adult PD’s are between 60-65mm the average being 63mm. The best and most accurate measurement of your PD will come from an optician. If you don’t have a PD measurement on your prescription form, you can always contact your optician and ask them for it. If you can’ get your PD from your optician, don’t worry, we can advise you, or measure your PD for you:

We don’t recommend you measure the PD yourself if you have medium or high prescription powers

The ruler method:

For the best results, we recommend you ask a friend or member of the family to make the measurement for you. Don’t try to measure your PD yourself by looking into a mirror. Ideally, you would use an engineer or joiner, someone how is used to making accurate measurements would be perfect. If you are going to use a none professional make the measurement at least 3 times. If you are getting measurements within 1 or 2 millie meters you should be fine to use the value. Top tip, take a picture and count the ruler’s markings. By taking a picture you can be sure that the person’s eyes are not moving. To make the measurement take a millie meter rule and place it over your eyebrows.

If you are not confident with the results you are getting, send to us a picture via Email or WhatsApp. We require a headshot of the person whose PD you would like us to measure. The person should be stood up straight. The ruler should be perfectly horizontal, we will use a special piece of software to calculate the value we need.

We should also make you aware that you can download and use one of the numerous. Pupillary Distance Measure Apps for Android & iOS. As we haven’t evaluated any of these we can’t offer any recommendations.

Where’s the best place to start?

We offer a full range of frame sizes in our high impact prescription sports glasses and goggles. The sizes range from extra small right the way through to Extra large in 6 different sizes. So, how do you know what is the correct size for you? By simply measuring the size of your everyday glasses, we can match the size for you to the nearest 5mm. Assuming the glasses fit well (not too large or small) measure the diameter of the frame between the arms approx 15 to 20 millie meters back from the front of the frame, see the diagram below:
Who can become a voice over artist?
I’m an actor but would love to get into voice overs.
If you are having issues with your vision after receiving your order. We will work with you to quickly identify the problem. In most cases, there is a very simple explanation for why your vision is poor. We have a simple process we go through as follows:
1. The first thing to check, is the poor vision in both eyes? Cover one eye over then the other to check vision separately. If your vision is still out of focus, try wearing the glasses again first thing the following morning after you wake up.
2. Have you had glasses made to the prescription you have supplied to us?
3. For us to examine the lenses we will need the frame back. If you contact us we will provide you with a pre-paid and address label. Put the glasses/goggles back in the packaging we provided and enclose a copy of your prescription.
4. Once we receive the eyewear back we will test the lenses and notify you of our findings and agree on the solution.
